If your machine becomes infected with XP Internet Security Malware:-

Download Rkill, from Bleeping Computer (Google this)

Rename Rkill, so it has an extension of .exe

Run Rkill, and wait for the malware processes to complete

Download MalwareBytes Antimalware, the free version works fine, however I would reccomend buying it as it is very good

Scan all your drives

Remove any Malware it finds

Beware of Free Spyware removal tools! There is a saying I generally like which is a energy based term (you dont get anything for nothing) well in the spyware world you can oftern get a whole lot more than you bargained for.

Often when machines are infected with spyware, people search the internet looking for free removal tools. these tools are readily available and very easy to download. Although some are adequate for detecting spyware, many install even more spyware and bring additional problems to your machine.

Once spyware has infested your machine, it will try and embed itself into every opportunity (vulnerability) it can find, this very oftern means the spyware removal tool you have downloaded does not stand a chance of removing the spyware when the machine is operating in normal mode, even booting in safe mode does not allow proper removal of spyware.

Some spyware can cause so much damage, that spending time repairing the operating system is pointless, and recovery of data - re-install is the best option.

System restore is often a favorite recovery method, however some spyware have got this covered by infiltrating the system restore volume data, so that when you conduct a restore, the spyware is back.

Spyware on pc's and laptops can cause many effects:-

Whilst working on that all important document for work you may find that your favourite publishing application locks up, or your hard disk (storage drive) is constantly working away even though you arent doing anything at the time to warrant its work. Spyware also has been known to capture details about you and your system passing them back to third parties for other means.

Spyware, Adware and pop-ups cross over each others boundaries and it is often hard to tell them apart. You should always use careful tactics in removing these from your system as removal of some can cause more harm than good.

There are literally hundreds of utilities on the market which help you remove spyware, some have been known to place their own spyware on your system whilst removing the rest. IT Reliance will explain the pro's and con's of each one to you and recomend the best option for your needs.
